The guy behind SPF Safety
Hi, I’m Stephen Fuhrman!
I’ve spent more than 15 years working in occupational safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental monitoring, and I am incredibly passionate about the work that I do.
I’m a credentialed Occupational Safety Trainer holding EIT, ASP, and CIT certifications. I have custom-built the curriculum I teach based on both information obtained through higher education and my real-world field experiences. If you’ve taken one of my courses, you know that I bring a lot of energy to the classroom, but I also want you to know that training is only part of what I do.
Over the years, my work has taken me into a wide range of environments, including complex construction sites, industrial facilities, schools, medical facilities, public and commercial buildings, wastewater treatment facilities, and several other workplaces where safety, compliance, and environmental regulations have to function reasonably with an organization’s operations and not just on paper. My experience includes industrial hygiene, construction safety, environmental sampling and monitoring, quality control, regulatory compliance, and helping organizations identify practical ways to improve their day-to-day operations.
Training has always been a big part of that work, and it’s something I genuinely enjoy. I’ve delivered courses covering OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements, workplace safety, environmental compliance, sampling procedures, and other specialized safety topics. But I don’t believe good training should feel like someone reading regulations from a screen or manual. People need to understand why something matters, how it applies to the work they actually do, and what they can take back to the job.
That same approach carries into everything we do at SPF Safety. Whether we’re providing training, helping with compliance, conducting environmental or safety-related work, or supporting an organization with a specific challenge, the goal is always to keep things practical, clear, and useful.
I’m here to make safety and compliance easier to understand, manage, and put into practice.
Let’s Work Together.
